Extension privacy policy
Last updated September 2026. This covers the Batch browser extension only, the part that moves your shopping list into a supermarket's own site. The Batch website has its own account and data handling, described where you register.
What the extension does
When you click "Send to store" on a Batch shopping list, the extension reads that list, opens a new tab at Woolworths, PAK'nSAVE or New World (whichever you picked), and shows a panel there with the quantity of each item to buy. For items sold in fixed packs, it can add them to your cart on that retailer's own site using the account you are already logged into there.
What it reads
The shopping list you send it: ingredient names, quantities and units, and which retailer you chose. It reads this only from the Batch site itself, through an on-page event, not by scraping the page. On a retailer's site, it reads that page to work out product matches and prices, and reads back whatever that retailer's own add-to-cart action reports (for example, a confirmed price or an out-of-stock notice).
What it stores, and where
Your shopping list, which items you have added or found, and which retailer you picked are kept in your browser's own local extension storage (Chrome's chrome.storage.local), on your device only. Nothing here is sent to Batch's own servers or database. A new "Send to store" click replaces the stored list; uninstalling the extension removes it completely.
What it never does
It never asks for, reads or stores your supermarket username or password. Adding an item to your cart uses the session you are already signed into on that retailer's own site, the same way clicking their own "Add to cart" button does. It never places an order or enters payment details; checkout always happens on the retailer's own site, by you. It never sends retailer prices, or anything else it reads, to Batch's servers. It carries no analytics or tracking of its own.
Where it runs
The extension only acts on the Batch site and on woolworths.co.nz, paknsave.co.nz and newworld.co.nz. It does not run on, or read, any other page you visit.
